Dear 5th Grade Families,
What a great way to start the school year. Thank you for helping your student with a wonderful transition to 5th grade. The first few days last week were spent reuniting with old friends, meeting new ones, learning expectations and getting use to new classroom routines.
This week is used to finish STAR testing and evaluate student academic levels. We will continue to learn how to use the planners to support organizing homework assignments. We will start homework routines next week with the implementation of math and spelling homework. My expectations around homework are that students take their time and turn in QUALITY work. I look through homework each week and if I feel a student rushed through the assignment, I will return the assignment to be corrected or completed during “Relish”. As questions come up around homework, please do not hesitate to email, call or write me a note.
Please help remind your student to have their binder and planner with them when they come to class each morning. We file ongoing assignments in our binders and they may need them in class.
I look forward to seeing you all Thursday night at 6 pm for Back to School Night.
